SSMRF raises funds and awareness for transformative medical research at St George and Sutherland Hospitals in Australia. The Foundation’s philosophy has been to prioritise promising new research or emerging researchers who are on the cusp of securing more substantive external competitive grant funding.
SSMRF believes that funding medical research is the best way to develop better treatments for patients and improve healthcare for our community… and beyond.
SSMRF is proud to have funded 76 research projects since 2007 across a wide variety of research areas. In addition, the Microbiome Research Centre (MRC) is Australia’s first research centre solely dedicated to studying the microbiota in health and disease. The MRC was established at St George Hospital in 2017 with a federal government grant awarded to the SSMRF.
